Every day, homeless men enter the red doors of The Bowery Mission looking for a safe and warm place to rest their tired bodies. Your gift will give one of the guests in our 25-bed overnight dormitory three hot meals, a comfortable bed, and a word of encouragement. A Day of Soup & Sandwiches :: $165
Four days a week, The Bowery Mission Outreach Truck brings soup and sandwiches to people in parks and on the street corners of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The Outreach Program reaches people who may be wary or unaware of our services. So far in 2006 we have served over 30,000 meals this way! The Outreach Program is also able to provide critically important bags of groceries to families choosing between food and rent. After leaving the doors of The Bowery Mission, our graduates can take part in our Alumni Program, a safe place to say connected with others who have faced similar life challenges, network with friends and colleagues, gain additional skills, and most importantly, remain encouraged. One Day of Counseling :: $98
Men who come to The Bowery Mission are facing many issues: depression, lack of trust, broken relationships and addiction. Our counselors meet one-on-one with these men to help them overcome these challenges. One counselor may meet with as many as a dozen residents in one day. Each week, the Outreach Van travels to four neighborhoods to distribute groceries and serve hungry people hot meals. We provide each meal, each night of shelter, each shower, each piece of clothing, and each free doctor’s appointment as an invitation to our transformative recovery programs. The on-site Discipleship Institute offers men spiritual counseling, career training, and family restoration.
